By News Feb 25, 2021 | 5:47 AM

The 13th ranked Creighton Bluejays showed no ill affects from a 12 day layoff last night, they crushed DePaul 77-53. With the win, they keep pace with Villanova for first place in the Big East. The Bluejays travel to Cincinnati, Ohio Saturday for a game against Xavier. The Jays topped the Musketeers earlier this season in Omaha. Tipoff is this Saturday at 4:00.

Minnesota topped the Nebraska women’s basketball team last night in Minneapolis, 73-63. The loss snaps the Huskers two game winning streak. The Husker women’s final home game of the regular season is Saturday, they’ll host Michigan State. The Huskers topped the Spartans earlier this season in East Lansing. Tipoff at Pinnacle Bank Arena is set for Saturday afternoon at 1:00.

The Nebraska men’s basketball team is on the road tonight with a game at 5th ranked Illinois. The Huskers have lost four in-a-row after falling at home to Penn State Tuesday. The Fighting Illini saw their seven game winning streak come to an end Tuesday at Michigan State. In their first meeting in Lincoln, the Huskers lost to the Fighting Illini in overtime. Tipoff is tonight at 6:00.

The UNK volleyball team moved up five spots to No. 11 in the latest AVCA Division II Top-25 Poll. Hillsdale still tops the rankings, followed by Lewis, Angelo State, Metro State and Colorado Mesa. The Lopers are now one of only two MIAA teams in the poll, Washburn enters the rankings this week at No. 20. The Lopers continue their season opening 8-game road swing this weekend with matches against Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Baptist in Wichita, Kansas.

The UNK women’s basketball team is ranked 14th in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) poll, and 28th in the latest D2 Sports Information Directors of America rankings. The Lopers close out the regular season this weekend at Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Western State. The eight-team MIAA Tournament starts next Wednesday (March 3) with the top four seeds hosting first round games.
