Update on Armed Robbery/Assault in Kearney

KEARNEY, Neb. – Billy P. Herl Sr. (43) and Jenny F. Cleaveland (22), were taken into custody in Teller County, Colorado on Tuesday, September 22nd, in connection to the September 3rd Assault / Armed Robbery that occurred in Kearney.

Both subjects are charged with Robbery, Assault in the 1st Degree, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, Theft, and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited person.

ORIGINAL STORY:

At approximately 1:17 p.m. on Thursday, September 3rd, Kearney Police responded to CHI Good Samaritan Emergency Room for an assault/armed robbery report. The adult male victim reported he had been assaulted and robbed at a residence in south Kearney on September 2, 2020, sustaining serious injuries to his face and head.

With information provided by the victim, investigators were able to identify two suspects in this case. 43-year-old, white male, Billy P. Herl Sr. and 22-year-old, white female, Jenny F. Cleaveland.

Both suspects are believed to be homeless and have been seen panhandling at several intersections in Kearney over the past week. The female has been seen with a small dog and cardboard sign.
